Improving Public Transit, Rapid Transit, Intercity Transit, and Active Transportation

An essential part of a well-designed community is an integrated public transportation system to move people within, and to connect to inter-city, and active transportation (bike/walk) routes. The Region’s iON LRT was built to move people, and to improve urban density and reduce urban sprawl and is already transforming our region.

Issues:

The LRT Phase 2 Extension to Cambridge will be the most significant urban infrastructure project to date for Waterloo Region so it needs to be done right,

Half of the region’s emissions are from transportation,

The Covid-19 Pandemic and working from home have reduced ridership on public transit,

How do we move people away from single occupancy private vehicles?
